Place screens on all windows and ensure there are no holes for the flies to come through. Don’t overlook cracks and other entry points as they will need to be sealed.

Once the entry points, breeding grounds and food sources have been eliminated, you are well into the process of how to get rid of fruit flies. The next step is to eradicate the ones that already live in your home. Fruit fly traps may be purchased at a store or you may choose to make your own. A soda bottle with apple juice or V8 mixed with a few drops of dish soap at the bottom is an easy trap that anyone can make. Once the flies enter, they can’t escape. Fruit flies only live two weeks so, by following these steps, you can quickly eliminate them and work to prevent them from returning at any time.
